Horsetooth Mtn Race.
I ran the Horsetooth Mtn. Race this morning. It's a 7.3 mile trail race with 1800' of vertical gain. It's a fun, low key race with about 100 participants. My time was 1:04.23. I was hoping to break 1 hour, but that goal will have to wait until next year.
Things done right:
Pacing up the first hill seemed about right. Definitely hard, but with enough left to push on the rest of the course.
Things done wrong:
I approached this race as a training race and didn't taper as much as I could have. I'm not sure the lack of taper effected my time very much. I felt rested going into the race. It would have been nice to have run the course more recently to have a better feel for what was coming.
